Tamra Omen supports women reentering the community from prison and the Department of Corrections Programs as well as works to defeat legislation that would terminate parental rights for women sentenced to an undetermined number of years. Tamra widens the circle of love so these women can experience true freedom.
Tamra is currently the Statewide Program director for the FREE Campaign. FREE is the women’s division of EXPO (Ex Incarcerated People Organizing). The FREE Campaign organizes around issues women who have been impacted by the Justice System face. She is a national speaker, consultant, group facilitator, and believes deeply in cultivating a culture of hope, healing, and compassion for all.
RE Focus: Widening the History We Tell
Many of the stories about African Americans were overlooked or deliberately ignored. In this lesson, we will discover several figures in history whose stories deserve to be told. It is time that we, as a faith, widened the circle of the history we tell. Happy Black History Month!
