As we approach the annual societal debate over Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we are reminded that the pursuit of equity and pluralism often requires courage. Unitarian Universalists steadfastly envision a nation in which all its people feel they belong. Of course, this can only happen after we have the courage to acknowledge the difficult truth of our history and find reconciliation. We intellectually understand this, but do we always have the courage to fully embrace the consequences?
