Anticipation runs especially high this time of year – the winter holidays, the first snow, candles, music, gift giving and receiving, and traditions. Anticipation can also be tied up with anxiety, disappointment and even fear. (What will today’s headlines hold?) We’ll explore the intersections between hope, expectations and anticipation, and learn some things from the recently passed writer Wendell Berry about how to live with the natural tensions between these states.
