The Beginning of a Spiritual Journey: The History of Christian Baptism

All modern Christian denominations use baptism as an initiation rite or sacrament to accept members. However, each has their own unique rules and doctrines which continue to cause much contention and confusion among these groups. Baptism is supposed to signify new beginnings. In order to understand what this means, we must go back to the beginning of Christianity. Baptism was the way to start over one’s life by initiating a beginning to a journey into a new religion.
